Theatre Festival
Peoples’ Theatre Festival is all about analysing, demonstrating, reflecting and exchanging knowledge and skill by searching roots and originality in content and form of theatre having a camp of about 100 artists from villages, tribal pockets, urban areas and even from abroad to live together and discover role of Modern Indian Theatre Art practices to apply for social education and awareness.
There used to be : Performances (short and long) , Reflection Seminar, Observation of styles, workshops to share modern techniques of theatre art, interpersonal sharing of ideas etc etc apart from a theatre March, Daily Theatre Market and a Theatre Camp Fire at the end. This is a 7 days program usually including 5 days of full-day activities, the day of arrival and a day of departure. There used to be 5 principal performances of theatre by Non-profit making groups who do theatre for a mass, 5 short performances, 5 Reflection seminars, 5 short workshops, 5 days Theatre Market, 5 days Daily Bulletin like news-paper, 7 days documentation in video and photo, interviews with Master Delegates, 100 artists to stay with Observers, Master Delegates and Managers of the festival.
Natya Chetana has been organising such a Peoples Theatre Festival with a Non-urban atmosphere, promoting indigenous elements of Indian theatre art to stand in front of the modern theatre practices of the world since 22 times by 2022 in different years. There used to be a theme proposed before to identify who can perform around that. Previously Peoples Theatre Festivals have focussed on theme like : UNITY, ENVIRONMENT, WOMEN , CHILDREN, COMMUNAL HARMONY , TRIBAL YOUTH, MASK, etc. The point of attraction is that – the venue is Natyagram of Natya Chetana, a secured campus near Khurda Town, which is an important place of freedom fighting and Paika Revolution, counted as the first anti-British response of India and near Kaipadar where Hindu and Muslim pray together in one place symbolising the level of tolerance. This has been a base of encouraging justice to a sustainable life for future.
